JUNE 1, 2007 - POSTED BY STEVE Been a while since we last had a feature here at S+F Software, but I've written a new one in honor of Trevor's 9th birthday. That's right - nine years! You can read the feature here. MARCH 17, 2007 - POSTED BY STEVE Happy St. Patricks Day from all of us at S+F Software! Kind of late to be having the first news post of the year, but here it is. Some minor changes including new trivia for Helibomber and an updated staff roster. I am hoping that I will soon be able to reveal some details concerning our next big release. SEPTEMBER 28, 2006 - POSTED BY STEVE We're looking for help on an upcoming project. Take a look - you might just be able to help develop a video game! JULY 30, 2006 - POSTED BY STEVE While it's been pretty quiet around here for a month, but there will be something cool coming rather soon. JUNE 22, 2006 - POSTED BY STEVE Busy week, I guess. Die-Hard Gamer has posted a long-awaited review of Inhabitants DC on their web site. The review is very in-depth going so far even as to have video and audio clips from the game. The game scored a 3.5 out of 5 which (according to the reviewer) is "great" according to their rating system. Hats off to John "Hunter" D. Norman for writing the review. Also, I forgot to mention it, but yesterday I posted a link to another Inhabitants DC review on our press page. This one is from GameFreaks365 JUNE 21, 2006 - POSTED BY STEVE Not much of an update, but I've posted a link on the press page to a review of Helibomber DX done last year by Acid-Play. They had some kind words for the title and gave it an overall rating of 81%. Stay tuned for info on upcoming projects as well as releases of our monthly features. MAY 25, 2006 - POSTED BY STEVE So it's around the two year anniversary of the last Midwest Gaming Classic. We were there. We remember. Say "hello" to the Features section and the first article there - a staff retrospective of 2004's Midwest Gaming Classic! MAY 13, 2006 - POSTED BY STEVE Well, it's finally here. The snazzy new S+F Software site layout is up and running. Now you can get even more comprehensive information about our titles and upcoming releases. Don't forget to check out the forums! MAY 7, 2006 - POSTED BY STEVE Not only are the forums back, but we've got a new web address! Spiffy. Expect updates and a new site design soon, folks. JUNE 24, 2005 - POSTED BY STEVE The forums are down due to a recent Sevensoupcans server move. We'll keep you posted on their rebirth. APRIL 21, 2005 - POSTED BY STEVE Over the past three months, things have been pretty dormant around S+F Software. I've taken the time to post some links on the press page regarding Inhabitants DC. We are very pleased to announce that despite its delayed release, the game is doing quite well. Since the release of Inhabitants DC, we have been taking a self-imposed, six month break. When June rolls around, be sure to check back for updates on exciting new products! JANUARY 21, 2005 - POSTED BY STEVE Inhabitants DC is now available! For those of you who have been with us since May of last year when the game was supposed to be released, we thank you. It's been an arduous journey for our mighty fine publishers and after several unsuccessful production runs, the game is out and ready for play! Stay tuned - there is a special Inhabitants DC web site coming that will have exclusive downloads, gameplay hints, and more! Happy gaming! JANUARY 7, 2005 - POSTED BY STEVE Great news, everyone! I've just received word from the GOAT Store that Inhabitants DC will be shipping January 11, 2005. We are all very excited for the release of this product after months upon months of production issues! Thanks goes out to early support from fans. We'll keep you posted! DECEMBER 21, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE First off, Iceman DX is available now from the games page and has the original twenty Iceman levels and fifty five new ones! That's right - there are 75 levels of enjoyable puzzle fun here. Secondly, Andrew Bado and S+F Software have parted ways after three and half years of working together. So until further notice, S+F has no projects currently planned for development. We are not dissolving; we are simply on hiatus while the search for a reliable pixel artist continues. OCTOBER 2, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE I really didn't ever want to post news on unfinished projects again, but I figure that generating hype is a good thing. Iceman DX is within a month of being completed. For those of you who played the original Iceman game, there are going to be a ton of new levels with new puzzles to solve. For those of you didn't play the original, get ready for a ferocious helping of light-hearted puzzle gameplay. Expect it to be released either this month or next. SEPTEMBER 17, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE This is definately week-old news, but GameHippo has posted a review of Rapid Fire DX and a link for the internet masses to find it. Check it out. SEPTEMBER 4, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE Rapid Fire DX is completed at last and ready for download from the games page! Enjoy the game and please let us know what you think on the forum. AUGUST 22, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE This is a quick news post for those yearning for some action here at S+F Software. Inhabitants DC has entered production for a third time and should be out early next month. Again, all of us at S+F Software and at the GOAT Store, LLC would like to apologize for the delays in this release. Secondly, we have two games under development that should be released before October. Both are remakes of classic S+F titles; one is Iceman DX and the other is Rapid Fire DX. Expect some more information on these two titles soon! JULY 18, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE Those who asked have received. The answers to the few questions I got for the Q+A feature are now posted on the forums. Check 'em out. JULY 15, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE Here's an update on what's going on with Inhabitants DC. Dan Loosen of the GOAT Store was able to brief everyone on what was going on with the discs. Also - the Q+A procedures are not going as well as I had anticipated. I have received about four questions. Unfortunately this will mean that it will not be a regular feature. I do plan to answer those questions through the forum though. So keep your eyes peeled. JULY 4, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE I am planning a new weekly feature (at least for the summer depending on popularity) on S+F Software's web site. Basically I want everyone to throw any questions they have about anything (from game development to game design to game playing) and then I will answer several weekly. With the recent popularity of Inhabitants on the Sega Dreamcast and the pending releases of several new freeware titles for PC, I thought this would be a good way to let people learn whatever they want. Please send any questions to me via email JUNE 6, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE We've released a preview version of Inhabitants DC for all those who are interested in checking the game out. You can download the image files from here. Enjoy! JUNE 4, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE Alright... some good news and some bad news to be said here. First off, today is June 4th and, you guess it, Inhabitants DC is still not ready for a release. Again - we apologize for any inconveniences this causes. However, the game should be out in the next two weeks or so. I am not giving a date because I don't even know myself. The good news is that we have a slew of things we are working on that are approaching the point of release. Version 1.2 of Inhabitants (the PC version) should be out within the next few weeks as well as an update to Squares (version 1.1). Keep those eyes peeled. MAY 27, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE It seems we have a new date for Inhabitants DC and that is June 4, 2004. MAY 24, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE Unfortunately, a last minute problem in the pressing of the game discs means Inhabitants DC is not ready for its scheduled release. However, those who pre-ordered the game at the Midwest Gaming Classic got free shipping. We apologize for this delay. Also - expect a full report of S+F's trip to the Midwest Gaming Classic very soon. For now all I will say is this: It was awesome! MAY 17, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE The Midwest Gaming Classic is fast approaching and I figured I'd celebrate by posting a radio spot that Lazer 103 is running (it mentions Inhabitants DC). If you are at the Midwest Classic this weekend be sure to stop by the S+F Software booth to check out running demos of Akuma's YoYo, Inhabitants v1.2, Squares v1.1, and much more! MAY 6, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE Ok - so there's not a whole lot of big things going on around here. I've been working feverishly on a new version of Inhabitants PC. Version 1.1 of Squares is also in development. The nature of this news is to inform you that there are new banners for the site. APRIL 28, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE I've updated the Press page with links to announcements surrounding the release of Inhabitants DC. APRIL 24, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE I've added a link to the games page to pre-order Inhabitants DC. Windows gamers shouldn't feel left out though. Inhabitants v1.2 for Windows should be available around the same Inhabitants DC is released. Aside from cosmetic changes, there are a lot of under-the-hood alterations. Also - just to confirm this - Brandon Parker, Kyle Ward, and myself will be attending the Midwest Gaming Classic May 22 and 23 to promote the release of Inhabitants DC. Say "Hi" if you are in the area or just stop by to try out Inhabitants DC. APRIL 21, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE Inhabitants Dreamcast is now available for pre-order from the GOAT Store's web site. The game will be released on May 22, 2004 at the Midwest Gaming Classic in Milwaukee, WI. Look for some of the S+F Software team there! APRIL 4, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE Things haven't been as slow as they may seem around here lately. Inhabitants for the Sega Dreamcast is completed and is going to be published and sold by the GOAT Store. We'll have more information posted on the game soon! MARCH 15, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE Some of the pages on the site have been slightly updated. There is now contact information for all of the staff members available. Check back within the next week or so for some concrete information on Inhabitants DC. MARCH 9, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE This isn't a big news update by any means, but I've changed my e-mail address. So if any of you are still trying to reach me at my zophar address, please don't. My new e-mail address is fuzmeister@sevensoupcans.com. FEBRUARY 24, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE Squares is now available from the games section for your consumption. It's fortified with tasty features like forty game boards, loads of options, and an online scoring option. Enjoy! JANUARY 18, 2004 - POSTED BY STEVE The site has been totally rebuilt for the umpteenth million time. This time it's got a cleaner interface and should hopefully load faster for you poor souls on dial-up connections. Also, expect our new game Squares to be out next month! Oh, by the way, if anyone thinks the site is sort of empty right now there is more coming soon! 10/29/03 - Posted by Steve Well, everyone - the past month has provided an insightful look into the future of S+F Software if nothing else. A lot of people have said this team is dead. We aren't. I've posted a new developer's diary entry just to prove you all wrong. :) More information on the return of progressing projects coming soon, I hope. 9/29/03 - Posted by Steve I was really hoping it wouldn't come to this. However, recent circumstances involving the loss of the S+F projects, lack of incoming graphics, and internal relations between team members are all forcing me to leave S+F Software. I don't plan on working on any projects involving S+F Software until things begin to get back to the way they were. The biggest cause of my departure is the lack of graphics; I refuse to wait for new graphics while our artist slowly works on independent projects with no concern for the well-being of this team. I apologize for making promises I could not keep regarding upcoming projects. Who knows? Perhaps one day when the chaos subsides I'll come back and we can finish them. Until then I want to truly thank all of you who have supported S+F Software for the past few years and, once again, sincerely apologize to you. 9/25/2003 - Posted by Steve Here's a little surprise for all you crazy internet people out there - a brand new game released for free today. That's right, folks, a new game I've been working on since Inhabitants was released is now done. Helibomber DX is a remake of the 1999 S+F classic that still contains a preserved version of the original as well! Take a gander and have some fun. 9/15/03 - Posted by Steve I did a small update on the staff photo page. Kyle informed me that some our photos were just downright bad... well, he was more tactful about it, but you get the idea. Check it, yo. 8/3/03 - Posted by Steve I've updated the ol' developer diaries to give you a grasp of what's going on here at S+F Software. I realize there's been no activity. Don't yell at me yet - we're releasing Inhabitants by the end of the week for free. So ha! 5/23/03 - Posted by Steve Well - as promised there is a page dedicated to the history and specifics of our dear rodent Trevor. Check it out. 5/22/03 - Posted by Steve Today is Trevor fifth birthday. That's right - Trevor was created five years ago today! Expect a serious history of Trevor page coming soon. I'll post it later when I get more time, 5/19/03 - Posted by Steve Well - I was just made aware of this, but apparently Jonas Kyratzes of gamedeveloper.net and just-rpg.com fame has posted an interview I did a few months back with him. It mostly deals with elements of design in games and such. Check it out. 5/13/03 - Posted by Steve I've added a brief, but informative page dedicated to Akuma's YoYo. Expect some more screenshots and some more game information by the end of the month. 5/7/03 - Posted by Steve Brykovian has just posted a completed preview of Akuma's YoYo on VBGamer. Check it out. Speaking of Akuma's YoYo - we have beta tester registration coming up for Akuma's YoYo and possibly Inhabitants. Give me an email if you're interested. 3/17/03 - Posted by Steve A new developer diary entry has been posted by a special guest. Try and guess who it is before you click. Heh. 3/16/03 - Posted by Steve Inhabitants could be free with your help! Make a donation to fuzmeister@zophar.net using PayPal and if we at S+F get enough donations, Inhabitants will be free for download! 3/14/03 - Posted by Steve Here is a bit of interesting news for all of you math enthusiasts and geek-type people out there. Today is Pi Day. Yay. 3/9/03 - Posted by Steve Good news, everyone. During the duration of my stay with Brandon in Washington we got some serious work done on Inhabitants. The game is close to finished now and has a new game mode everyone should enjoy: internet multiplayer battle mode. Keep those eyes peeled. 3/4/03 - Posted by Steve An interview with yours truly has just been posted on just-rpg.com. The interview focuses on the structure of S+F Software and our upcoming projects including the special edition of Trevor 3. Also - I'll be in Washington DC this week staying with Brandon and working on projects. Expect full coverage of the event and happenings shortly after. 1/30/03 - Posted by Steve Kyle speaks! Take a look at the new "Developer's Diaries" just posted! Also - more to come soon regarding Inhabitants and Akuma's YoYo. 1/28/03 - Posted by Steve Erg- This is odd. I updated the website's design after only have the old one for about a month. A bunch of people were saying they didn't like it and that the frames were annoying. Whatever - here we go. I will be adding in the stuff that isn't here yet within the next few days. This site scheme is from scratch. 1/14/03 - Posted by Steve The first "Developer Diaries" is up. Check it out. 11/21/02 - Posted by S. Thompson With the release of Inhabitants fast approaching, I figured I would put up a little Inhabitants page under the projects section. Also - I opened an Inhabitants promo store at cafepress with neat stuff. Joy! 11/17/02 - Posted by S. Thompson I've compiled a one board demo of Inhabitants for inquiring minds. You can nab it here. The demo may only be one board, but gives you a feel for what to expect in the finished version expected to be released around Christmas. Sorry, but no documentation is included with the demo - please visit the forum with any questions. Happy demo-ing. 11/14/02 - Posted by S. Thompson The Inhabitants engine has been beefed up to DirectX 8 and now features built-in sprite rotation and translucency. What does all that mean? The game is better and closer to being done! 11/3/02 - Posted by S. Thompson What a long hiatus that was since our last news post, friends. Fear not - S+F still thrives in the shadows. Inhabitants 2002 is coming along nicely and will be done before the holidays. Keep those eyes peeled. Oh - and I updated the projects page with some new or altered information. Until next time... 8/17/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Hey everybody. Just a reassuring post here that I haven't died. Neither has S+F. A few minor updates on the site(s): the Trevor download now leads directly to download.com's download page and a prelease of Beeline, the new chat client from S+F, is available from the Beeline site for download. Plus, that special package (which is a game, I shall reveal) is still on the way. We are very close to v1.0 of it. :) 7/11/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Erm - keep your eyes peeled within the next week or so for a special package. :) 7/6/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Things have been a bit quiet around S+F lately. We're still hard at work and hope to have a late summer release for you crazy internet peoples! Don't fret. Also - I posted some Akuma's YoYo wallpaper - nab it here! 6/17/02 - Posted by S. Thompson I posted a Trevor-based theme/skin for PocketPC. It should work correctly with Windows CE 2002 and probably other versions. Be advised that it has only been tested on 2k2 though. Nab it here and check the screenshot here! 6/16/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Happy Father's Day to all of you dads out there. I redesigned the Secret of the Shards page to match the new site scheme and incorporate the new graphics for the game (redone). 6/7/02 - Posted by S. Thompson We are a very conservative bunch. Change is bad, I guess. 6/6/02 - Posted by S. Thompson If you haven't take notice yet, I took the liberty of redesigning the entire S+F Software web site. Enjoy! And since the forums are back up, go ahead and visit them in honor of the redesign. 6/1/02 - Posted by S. Thompson The forums are back. They're still being hosted on Seven Soup Cans (by Brandon J. Parker), but they're now using PHPBB 2.0! Visit the new forums and celebrate! 5/29/02 - Posted by S. Thompson If you haven't taken notice already, the forums are gone. The boards were upgraded to PHPBB 2.0 and in the process, the database of posts was unfortunately lost. We apologize for the inconvenience - the forums will return by the weekend. 5/28/02 - Posted by S. Thompson I updated a few of the photos on the staff page of the motley crew. Check it, yo. 5/26/02 - Posted by S. Thompson S+F Software now has an active PayPal account. Please feel free to donate to our cause by clicking the link at the bottom of our page. 5/19/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Akuma's YoYo is being delayed and not being reassigned a new release date at the current time. We apologize for any inconviences. 5/11/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Production of Akuma's YoYo is a non-stop rollercoaster. As with any project, we've been having up-times and down-times. A release this month is not guaranteed, I am sorry to say. However - S+F Software has over 30,000 hits (that's since August 31). Nice! Visit the forums and celebrate! 4/30/02 - Posted by S. Thompson To take a break from working on Akuma's YoYo, I posted a new photo of myself on the staff page. There is also a new Akuma's YoYo cap in the store featuring the official AYY logo! You know you want one. 4/25/02 - Posted by S. Thompson There's some new merchandise available at the Akuma's YoYo Promotional Store. Nab yourself a baseball cap or Andro shirt while they last. 4/24/02 - Posted by S. Thompson I added a new screenshot to the Akuma's YoYo page to reassure you that we're not just hanging around doin' a whole lot of nothin'. 4/21/02 - Posted by S. Thompson S+F Software is in desparate need of funding for our projects. We are all short on time and are facing problems that are diverting us from our goal of bringing you high-quality games. In an effort to make some money, I opened up the Akuma's YoYo Promotional Store. S+F makes approximately one dollar (US) off of each item sold there. The only items available there now are the Ned Boxer Shorts and the Akuma's YoYo Promo T-Shirt. All proceeds go towards the S+F server as well as the S+F members and their families. Thank you. 4/20/02 - Posted by S. Thompson If you haven't noticed yet, I have returned. The entire hard drive holding S+F's projects was toasted. Fortunately, the S+F staff had recent copies of Rapid Fire 2 and Akuma's YoYo on their computers. Also - we are approaching 30,000 hits. If you get the honor of being that visitor, please contact me and let me know. You may get something out of it. ;) 4/11/02 - Posted by P. Hopkins S+F's leader, Fuzmeister, seems to be having some computer trouble. He, at the moment, can not sign on or work on any S+F games. Also, his second hardrive (which holds many S+F projects in development) may be damaged. We are not sure when he will come back, but we all wish him a quick return! 4/5/02 - Posted by S. Thompson S+F Software is planning on having a monthly newsletter to provide you with information regarding our upcoming releases. You can sign up here 4/4/02 - Posted by S. Thompson I just wanted to point out that if you look in the Old News section, you'll find that today is the one-year anniversary of the start of our zophar hosting. We've been hosted by Zophar.net for one whole year! Wow! 4/1/02 - Posted by S. Thompson The forums have been redesigned with a Trevor theme. Check them out and post your thoughts. Also, April is the month we're going to see Akuma's YoYo become available. More information as it becomes available! 3/31/02 - Posted by S. Thompson There is a new S+F Software flash logo on all the pages. 3/14/02 - Posted by S. Thompson More breaking news from S+F headquarters - we've got a new member... sorta. Andrew Woodward is back. He's plannin' on helping out with our upcoming Gameboy Advance projects, PC projects, some web redesign, and... perhaps some Nintendo Gamecube software. Yes, indeed this is true. I am planning on getting the development kit sometime this summer. 3/13/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Just to reassure y'all that S+F is hard at work, I thought I'd announce a small Gameboy Advance project Paul and I are slowly working on. The project is a port of one of our oldest games, Helibomber. Expect to see a new incarnation of the PC version as well soon. 2/28/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Being the last day of the month, I've decided to release a pre-alpha demo of Akuma's YoYo just so you crazy kids can get an idea of what we've got in store for you. Yes - I'm aware that there are plenty of bugs... just check it out here and be patient for the final version. 2/27/02 - Posted by S. Thompson I've posted a new version of Trevor3! on the games page. There are some bug-fixes, new dialog boxes, and some other revisions. Check it out! 2/12/02 - Posted by S. Thompson It's been a few days since the event itself, but I've added a page dedicated to the first quarter S+F Software meeting. You can check it out here! 2/7/02 - Posted by S. Thompson About one day left until S+F's first quarter meeting. The members attending are myself, Kyle, Andrew, Josh, and Matthew! Expect some photos and commentary from the meeting in a few days. 2/5/02 - Posted by S. Thompson I added another screenshot to the Akuma's YoYo page. Development for this game is going extremely well. Expect the release in March or April. Also, today is my birthday - so hurrah. 2/4/02 - Posted by S. Thompson I added a countdown script that is counting down to the S+F Software's first quarter 2002 meeting. 2/3/02 - Posted by P. Hopkins Hey, everyone. The Game Boy Advance page is now up! Don't forget to vote in the poll! And yes, I know I stole the poll idea from Steve. :-D 2/2/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Happy groundhog day. It's a new month and I thought it was about time we at S+F released some screenshots from Akuma's YoYo. Check 'em out on the projects page. 1/31/02 - Posted by S. Thompson This looks like the last post of the month, folks. The forums seem to be down temporarily, but that's not why I am posting. You will notice there is a new poll on the Akuma's YoYo page under projects. Vote for your favorite character! =) 1/29/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Goodbye, Stats4All. We've got a new counter. I know the hits were somewhere in the 24,300 range so I started it there. 1/27/02 - Posted by S. Thompson I don't bring the best of news. Stats4All is still down. Also, Greenbacks has been cancelled. The main reason being that Paul has switched platform interests from Windows to Gameboy Advance. Some good could come of this. =) 1/24/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Something strange is going on with Stats4All. I'm not quite sure what... but none of the hits we've gotten in the past two days have registered it seems. I updated the staff page with some new information and a few surprises. 1/21/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Okay. It would seem Stats4All's (our counter service) server has been down or something for the past two days. We registered six hits one day and zero another. Yipee. In other news, if you haven't already noticed, a startup sound plays now when you navigate to our site. The song, as most of you know, is the S+F fanfare composed by Josh Deeb. 1/18/02 - Posted by S. Thompson For those who did not know, the name Akuma is Japanese for devil or Satan. Therefore, Akuma's YoYo is translated to The Devil's YoYo or Satan's YoYo. Don't panic, folks... the prince of darkness does not make an appearance in the game. The name of the main villain is Akuma and he is named so just to show his true evilness. Just wanted to clear that up before some controversy arose on the forums. 1/14/02 - Posted by S. Thompson It's about time we had another update! I've been working a lot on S+F's first scheduled to be released game of 2002, Akuma's YoYo, a lot lately. I thought it was time I let it be revealed. Check out the projects page for more information. 1/1/02 - Posted by S. Thompson Happy New Year, everyone! Expect to see some great new games and utilities from S+F Software in 2002! 12/30/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I hope everyone had a good holiday. I'm just stopping by to peak your curiousity involving those two crazy looking characters recently added to our site logo. Both are characters from an upcoming game called Akuma's YoYo. More information coming on that title soon. =) 12/24/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Merry Christmas everybody. I was going to make some kind of fun, Christmas download, but sadly, Super Smash Bros. Melee is taking over my life... well, that along with work... 12/17/01 - Posted by S. Thompson With the holidays coming up, we S+Fers are quite busy with this thing called "real life". But fear not, gamers, we are still at work in the shadows. To prove it I uploaded a new "version" of Freefallers. This time there is an installer. I hope all you whiners on the forum are happy now. More coming; be patient. 12/8/01 - Posted by S. Thompson It's that time of the year, friends. The time of the year when yours truly taxes his brain thinking of new games for next year. Well, while I'm straining my brain, y'all can check out this nice little trailer for a game we at S+F affectionately call Trevor IV. 11/29/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Where's the bloody links page? You may have noticed that our links page and humor page have vanished from the site. Well don't worry, the links page will soon return as the affiliates page. However, the humor section is dead. For some reason, it just didn't seem right to have that here... 11/28/01 - Posted by S. Thompson While it may have seemed like an eternity for some of you, after just nine days I've returned to S+F. Along with me I've brought a new site design and a new utility called Reggae. 11/19/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I'm sorry to say that I will be leaving S+F Software for an indefinate period of time due to a death in the family. Direct any questions to the other members. Thank you all for everything. 11/12/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Just a little gaming news for you all. Today, the reason many people bought the Gameboy Advance comes out - Golden Sun. Being the longest handheld RPG available (or so I've heard), it's definately worth the $40 MSRP. 11/11/01 - Posted by S. Thompson One of S+F's members, Kyle Ward, has kicked off the upcoming week of the great console war with a change to his web-comic. For the next week, you can read the Miyamoto Gate! It involves these two people at war because of consoles (wonder who they are). Check it out! 11/10/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I've updated the humor page with some new artwork from Andrew Bado! It's quite humorous; check it out. 11/9/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Quite a while since an update, eh? Just dropping by to let you know we're still around and I am currently developing a 2001 game project that I've told no one about. Expect some more information regarding this game by the end of the month! 10/25/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Probably not a biggie to most of you, but Windows XP was released today. It doesn't seem like just another OS from Microsoft. Care to share your thoughts? Post 'em on the forum! 10/21/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Just thought I'd drop by to tell you that S+F has a new member if you didn't already know. His name is Anthony Hollis (Morpheus) and he's a programmer and artist. I also finally gave in and made colored scrollbars. Yeah, I know I'm a conformist. 10/18/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Myself and the other members... we're still alive... just busy... oh, don't worry, you'll all see the why soon. =) Rapid Fire 2 is coming along quite nicely with bosses, smooth movement, etc. Trust me, you'll be wanting to play the sequel to one of our most popular games. 10/16/01 - Posted by Kriebz I get knocked down, but I get up again... Thanks to all posting in th boards. If this is no you, check them out!!! I am very close to releasing the very first instalment of the new source. C++ baby! Look for links wherever TO information was found. Or actualy this and this. A naming contest for this code is now in effect, cause this name is just wrong. 10/1/01 - Posted by S. Thompson So while y'all are waiting for Rapid Fire 2, I figure you'll need something to keep yourselves busy. Freefallers v2.5 is now available! Notable improvements include bonus courses to unlock and a better ending sequence. 9/29/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Things have been pretty quiet around here as we continue work on Rapid Fire 2 and Secret of the Shards. In the meantime, check out a new screenshot I posted on the Rapid Fire 2 page. 9/19/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I posted a screenshot from Rapid Fire 2. The parallax scrolling has been implemented and it's looking very nice. In other news, several people have asked me about a walkthrough for Trevor3. I don't plan on making one but if anyone who has or can beat the game would, that'd be fine. 9/14/01 - Posted by S. Thompson "Trevor3 - The Shadow of the Chipmunk" has gotten over 10,000 downloads on download.com. I just wanted to stop by to thank everyone who has played it or downloaded. It has also made download.com's popular list. Thank you everyone again. On another note, I did not get a chance the other day to express my extreme sorrow for the tragedy that has struck the great nation of America. Keep the victims and their families in your prayers. 9/11/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Yes, we at S+F are still alive. We've been hard at work on our new games lately. I just have stopped by to add a link to Jonas Kyratze's game development page on the links page. 9/5/01 - Posted by S. Thompson It's been a while since I added anything to the humor page. Check out my new addition entitled "Ten Reasons Why I Know I am a Geek". 9/4/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I added a page dedicated to Rapid Fire 2. Check it out. Screenshots soon! 9/3/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Wow. That's all I can say after I've seen how many downloads Trevor3 has gotten since I posted it on download.com three days ago. Over 2400 downloads had happened when last I checked. I want to thank everyone whose played it so far! 9/1/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I've updated a few things. First off, the articles page now links to our interview with Gamedeveloper.net's Jonas Kyratzes. Second, I've updated the projects page with descriptions of our new games. 8/31/01 (again) - Posted by S. Thompson Touching, Paul. I've posted another artic... aw, I'm not even posting this one on the articles page. Just go read it here. 8/31/01 - Posted by P. Hopkins Hey, it's me again. I just decided to write a refute to Fuzmeister's evil anti-XBox article. :-D You can check it out by clicking here. Please mail me with your comments. 8/31/01 - Posted by S. Thompson With Spaceworld going on in Japan, I had to write some impressions on Gamecube and X-Box. Check out my new article called "Ten Reasons Why You Should Do the Right Thing" in our articles section. 8/30/01 - Posted by P. Hopkins Check out the new Greenbacks page for more info on the upcoming game. 8/30/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Ahem. It's here! Freefallers v2.0 is now available. If you haven't played the game before, this is the perfect time. The new version features more animation, brand-new graphics, and three characters to play as. Nab it if you dare. 8/29/01 - Posted by S. Thompson New article posted. It pertains to VB programmers that will reshape our world. Also, Freefallers v2.0 is coming along nicely and it should be available by the end of this week. 8/27/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I've changed the site's design around a bit. I also changed the random slogans displayed on the main page. Don't worry, I'll be back to post some real news in a few days. cough-freefallerv2.0-cough. 8/24/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Okay, here's the deal. I've heard from numerous people that Trevor3! is way to hard. Here is my challenge to you gameheads out there while I'm working on the new version of Freefallers: complete Trevor3! and send me solid proof, and I will give you the source to Trevor3 (AKA the lovechild of BitBlt and DirectX). So play Trevor3! and have fun! 8/22/01 - Posted by S. Thompson It's been a bit quiet around here. Just thought I'd drop by and reassure you all by saying that I am working on v2.0 of Freefallers and Paul is working on Greenbacks. So we are still hard at work! 8/19/01 - Posted by S. Thompson A new version of ROMulus is available. Aren't you amazed by the frequency of the ROMulus updates? 8/16/01 - Posted by S. Thompson There are new versions of both ROMulus and Cookie Killer available on the utilities page! I also added a new link under text to the humor page. 8/15/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I've added two real screenshots from Secret of the Shards on the SoTS page. 7/31/01 - Posted by P. Hopkins Just letting everyone out there know that I am beginning a project on a new game for S+F! It will be sure to keep you playing for a long amount of time trying to find everything! I'll explain more in the future. -Paul9 7/31/01 - Posted by S. Thompson So what does this post have to do with S+F? Not much. I just found out that the virus I got was the "SirsCam" virus; apparently it's been going around. Do I feel like an idiot? Slightly. Oh well, I will be back soon with more Secret of the Shards stuff! 7/27/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Begin rant. Just a quick note; don't send me viruses. I won't open them. Reason I say this is one little fella sent one to me this morning. I'm always suspicious when seeing mails that say "check this and give me your advice". But more suspisious when seeing that the attachment's extension is .pif (with a .zip in front of it to trick me apparently). I'm not an idiot. Don't waste your time or mine if you're thinking about it. End rant. 7/26/01 - Posted by Kriebz An announcement: TO is not an active S+F project. Thank you for your support, but do not worry, my team of consultants is hard at work setting up a framework for a future S+F title. This is a new twist for S+F, and will be a big adventure, sometime in the future. 7/26/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Version 1.1 of ROMulus has arrived! There are bug-fixes and new features, so download it from the utilities page! 7/24/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I'd like to give a big S+F welcome to our newest member, Paul Hopkins. He is a skilled programmer who plans to help out the team with SoTS and other future projects. 7/23/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I added many new things to the Secret of the Shards page. Some of which include the official SoTS logo, an image of one of the game's bosses, and a screenshot of the engine in action. 7/21/01 - Posted by S. Thompson S+F has a new affiliate, Omega Hacking. They've got some interesting programs available now and other neat stuff on the way. Check it out. 7/19/01 - Posted by S. Thompson More Secret of the Shards madness! I added a document on the characters and an animated GIF of the main character in action. 7/13/01 - Posted by S. Thompson The circle is complete. The first member of S+F (aside from myself) has returned from a leave of absence. Eric Wolfe has returned and he is ready for work on Secret of the Shards. Welcome back, Mister Wolfe. 7/11/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Big update, folks. I added a page dedicated to S+F's upcoming, old-school RPG, Secret of the Shards. I also got around to adding a link on the links page to Fallen Hero Software. Check it out. Hopefully some Flash enhancements will be coming to the site soon if all goes well. Also, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is out in theatres today. 7/10/01 - Posted by S. Thompson S+F has a new affiliate, Fallen Hero Software. Until I can get or create a 81x33 link image, you'll have to get there by the link I just gave you. Check out their site; their current project looks very nice and involves Final Fantasy. 7/9/01 - Posted by S. Thompson This update will hopefully make your Monday more bearable. I added a page dedicated to the history of S+F Software. 7/8/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Small update... I simply made links change color when your mouse cursor hovers over them... cower with fear, mortals! 7/6/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Gather 'round, kiddies! Gran'pa Steve's got a brand new article for y'all to read. Note: I am not really a gran'pa; it's all for dramatic effect. Check back soon. More info on Secret of the Shards is coming! 7/5/01 - Posted by Kriebz (luck visitor 1700) I have been debating the use of the S+F mainpage as a private forum, so this is an experiment. I fixed some HTML syntax on this post. We will all miss the store, but hey, I just couldn't spend money even on a great Trevor Tee. From my end, TO is evolving, ever so slowly. Congrats to Steve on doing a redesign and releasing a couple of demos (maybe his Advance batteries ran out)! And welcome to Andrew! 7/4/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Forget the news page's new look; I've redone the entire site. Sadly to say, I took the S+F Store offline as well. S+F made no profit off of any merchandise sold there anyway. 7/3/01 - Posted by S. Thompson At last! There's a site update! If you haven't already noticed, what I did was change the main page's new format to this new design. More on Trevor Online, Red's Revenge, and other stuff to come; check back soon. 7/2/01 - Posted by S. Thompson S+F has a new member. His name is Andrew Bado (AKA DarkFalzX) and he plans to provide high-quality graphics for some of S+F's upcoming projects. 7/1/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Ah, the joys of NetZero: free e-mail, free internet, only 40 hours a month... anyway, the lack of updates since 6/21 were because I ran out of hours. Anywho, Freefallers is available! It requires DirectX 7 or higher and features a SNES pseudo-3D feel. Check it out. Until next time, I'm playing some Gameboy Advance. 6/21/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Posted some stuff. A DirectPlay chat sample I made is up. There's no real point to it just yet. I also posted a file explaining some of the locations in Trevor Online. More to come; just too busy lately playing Tony Hawk 2 on Gameboy Advance... 6/19/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Yet another new game has been announced. This time it's a parachuting game called Freefallers. It's similar to the parachuting part of the old SNES game, Pilotwings, and uses DirectX 7. Check it out. 6/14/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Believe it or not, the lack of updates in the past few days was due to me playing too much Gameboy Advance. Funny the way I've been so engrossed in it after critizing it in my last rant, eh? Anyway, I added a page dedicated to a new game in the works, Red's Revenge. 6/10/01 - Posted by S. Thompson A new article has been posted by Matthew Kriebel. It can be found on the articles page. I've also added a page specifically for links. Be sure to check out some of the sites we at S+F recommend. 6/9/01 (barely) - Posted by Kriebz Ain't you all just loving T3? Well, I'm playing along, and want to hear from you, especially if you are having trouble. Just email me. If you are having trouble installing or running the game, you need a zip extraction utility, Direct X, the VB runtimes, and all the ActiveX controls (right click on the .inf, then click install) needed. Download the extras if the game isn't working. 6/9/01 - Posted by S. Thompson First Trevor3! is released, now a new utility is available! ROMulus is a unique tool that let's you rename a ROM and all the files (SRAM, Save-states, etc.) associated with it in one easy click! Another piece of news is that a bug was found in Trevor3 after the seventh dungeon. If you downloaded the game already, download this patch and unzip it into your Trevor3! folder. If you haven't downloaded it yet, the current version available is bug-free. 6/8/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Well, it's finally here, Trevor3! is available for free in the games section. It requires thinking skills, quick moves, and Direct X7 or higher. Thanks goes to everyone whose been helping or sending well-wishes along the way. Enjoy. 6/7/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I added a new article concerning the new Gameboy Advance and my views on it. Check back tomorrow for the release of Trevor3! 6/3/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Well, I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that both the original Trevor! and Trevor2! are available right now from the games page. The bad news is that they are the originals formats of these games meaning that the gameplay somewhat lacks. The story's are still there though; give them a whirl if you'd like a bit of a briefing before moving onto Trevor3! this Friday. 6/2/01 - Posted by S. Thompson More updates. I added a document on S+F's projects for the remainder of the year which you can find here. Oh yeah, some freeware, console-style, adventure game is coming out in 6 days too... whatever that's about... 6/1/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Well, if you didn't already notice, there's been a slight site redesign. I just had some time on my hands and thought that the old color scheme was a little hard on the eyes. Only 7 days left until Trevor3! 5/31/01 - Posted by Kriebz Steve's crony, Brandon Parker, who is helping port T3 to DirectX has joined as the 5th member of S+F. His AIM screenname is barret7sc if you want to contact him that way. Welcome Brandon. 5/29/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Only 10 days until Trevor3! is released. Make sure you've got DirectX7 or higher and are ready to go! Get DirectX here. ~kriebz 5/25/01 - Posted by S. Thompson S+F has a new member! His name is Matthew Kriebel and you may have seen him in anything mentioning Trevor Online. Ironically, Matthew Kriebel was the person who got Steve Thompson into computer programming way back around 1996 or so. Now, Matthew has joined S+F to work on Trevor Online and other projects. His talents range far and include Linux knowledge, VB and C++ coding skills, and the power to work with UNIX servers. 5/24/01 - Posted by S. Thompson I came up with a new bit of humor while recently playing Final Fantasy III. Here's a link to it. 5/21/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Finally! I added a counter for the site. The Trevor Online updates keep on coming as well. Only 18 more days until Trevor3! 5/19/01 - Posted by S. Thompson My good buddy, Matthew Kriebel, updated the "Trevor Online" site. The game promises to be one to remember. 5/17/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Curse you, Squaresoft! The lack of updates the past few days has been due to my playing of Final Fantasy III (Japanese version). Many people don't really know how good this game is. If you're into emulation and/or RPGs and have an NES emulator, I'd honestly try to find the english tranlation ROM of this game! More Trevor3! news soon. 5/13/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Many people may wonder why there is no information on the first two Trevor games. For those of you who have wondered, wonder no more; I posted this for you to read. 5/12/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Updated the home page a little. A different bit of text appears under the logo each time you visit. Thank you JavaScript! 5/11/01 - Posted by J. Deeb I just thought I'd drop in to let you in on some music news. Well, the soundtrack of Trevor3! is now complete. It won't be long now! :) 5/7/01 - Posted by S. Thompson For those who didn't already know, an add-on will be available for Trevor3! not too long after the final version release on June 8. The add-on will let you make your own worlds with new quests, puzzles, etc. This really increases the replay value of T3! I also posted a Trevor3! FAQ to answer some common questions. 5/5/01 - Posted by S. Thompson It's official, Trevor3 will be available through Zophar's online store! Look for it June 8 as planned! 4/12/01 - Posted by S. Thompson A useful new utility is now available! Noser v1.0 lets you sniff out all the files in one folder with a certain extension and redefine their extension to one of your choice. Very handy for emulators that only support one ROM file type. The humor section has some comical updates as well. 4/11/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Inhabitants v1.1 and Pharoah's Tomb v1.0 are now posted in the games section. Enjoy! 4/10/01 - Posted by S. Thompson At last! The utilities page is here. There are some useful programs there for Windows 9x users like WinPass. I also added a new link on the humor page. It's a link to a flash movie that uses the old video game joke "All Your Base Are Belong To Us". Quite funny; check it out. 4/6/01 - Posted by S. Thompson A total of four games now rest in the games section. Don't fret more are on their way. Also, I added humor and some other stuff. 4/5/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Added pages on our projects, the roster, Trevor3!, etc. I'm still working feverishly on the site. We are rebuilding the web site from the ground up. 3/24/01 - Posted by S. Thompson Good news, everyone. A new game is up: Trevor! Special Edition! Programmers needed! If you're a skilled programmer in Visual Basic or C++, we need you! We are looking for people willing to make great games for the world! 10/16/00 - Posted by S. Thompson Long time no update. Added some information about Trevor3! Which is S+F's next "big" project. It's a 2D adventure like classics such as Legend Of Zelda or um... darn... I'm blank... 8/5/00 - Posted by S. Thompson We are still working on our new site (this one). Hopefully it should be up by October or so. 7/19/00 - Posted by S. Thompson Ah. This is the first news brief for the new S+F Software site! Eventually, all the old stuff will be refined, improved, and moved to this web address. If you want to download some of the available freeware we offer, visit the existing S+F Software site at the URL located Below.
